  What do You Think About Hybrid and Electric Cars?

  Battery technology has been making leaps and bounds in affordability and energy output throughout the past decade. While pure electric cars currently have limited range, the near future holds prospects for longer ranges.

  Hybrids, and recently plug in hybrids, have a mileage of up to 50 mpg* giving them a range of 500 miles from a ten gallon gas tank. That cuts the price of a fill up in half.

  Plug in hybrids allow you to run the car on pure electric or regular hybrid mode. Currently their batteries will only allow a range of up to 20 miles before the gas/electric mode kicks in. That’s not sufficient for most use but when they get to the point that they’ll have a range of 100 miles it will revolutionize the auto industry and our driving habits.

  With a range upwards of 600 miles (500 in hybrid mode plus 100 in pure electric mode) no one will have to worry about having to recharge their car very often. The 100 mile range would allow the driver to recharge his car when convenient and/or use the gas/electric mode for longer trips. This can happen in as little as 5 years from now.

  Over 1.5 million Priuses have been sold in the U.S. and 6 million worldwide and this does not include other hybrids. Saudi Arabia, look out!

  Opinions anyone?

  *These are EPA figures which are based on strict driving conditions. Real life mileage comes out to about 10% less.

  What was it like being a JW in the 1960's and 1970's

  i'm really curious what it was like to be a witness in the 60's and 70's?.

  was the society as strict as it is today?.

  Very serious, deep stuff! BTW, the older brothers and sisters I knew were not kooky but had a deep knowledge of the Bible...
  

  Same here but I think that they were more zealous in the 1950s than when I grew up in the 1970s. I remember having get togethers and conversing with brothers on doctrines. One of whom had an IQ of 170 and had a lot of non-JW literature that would have branded him a borderline apostate.

  Can't make a comparison because I was physically and mentally out since 1980.
  

  Did you feel proud to be a JW back then?

  Yes, but I started having doubts in the late 1970s.
  

  Were the brothers more loving in those days?

  Would not know about now but they were pretty decent back then A few of them helped me out when I needed it. It was the elder hatchet man and the Circuit Overseer who were the pricks.

  Irritating noise? Like the man who punched an anti-Trump protestor at a Trump speech who was being escorted out? Like the hundreds of hate crimes carried out by them before any of this. As I've said and continue to repeat, The right-wing started this fight.

  As I've said before, it is the right wing media and Republican/conservative/alt-right groups that initiated all this hate-monger. I shouldn't have to define the word "initiated" so I'll use a simpler one. They started it. As I've said before, 30 years of conservative hatemongery on right wing radio and 20 years on right wing television has created this situation.

  As I've also said before conservatives are like the bully that punches and punches his victim and then, when his victim punches back the bully shouts: "You see, you see! That is why he deserves to be punched!

  That is false. There is no implication in what I said that free speech should be banned. In fact I'm on record on this site for defending the rights of free speech even for JWs.
